Scams are pretty common these days.
We get them through suspicious looking e-mails or texts and even the odd ‘viral’ ones can be seen doing the rounds on social media sites such as Facebook.
And as attempted swindles become ever more frequent, people have become better at spotting them and more importantly, avoiding them.
However, there’s a new scam doing the rounds that can potentially be so terrifying it could catch people unaware – and it could even scare people to the point that they end up handing over some of their hard earned cash needlessly.
This particular one involves people getting a phone call containing an automated voice message purporting to be from the UK Government’s HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
The message tells the person at the other end of the line that the HMRC are filing a lawsuit against them for alleged unpaid bills.
