The maker of software antivirus, Emsisoft , found a error in the decrypter app Ryuk ransomware . This is the application that gives the hackers victims to recover archives their , after attack , provided they have paid the ransom.
To According researchers , this error does not allow the application to fully restore all types of files, causing victims to lose some data to them, even though they have paid the ransom .
The Emsisoft said in a blog post that this is because the decrypter app truncates one byte from the end of each file that decrypts.
