A new report highlighted in Security Boulevard, is showing a 51 percent increase in attacks on web applications hosted by healthcare providers during December 2020, the timing of which coincides with the initial distribution of COVID-19 vaccines. Like banks and financial institutions, healthcare providers require a higher level of security because of the sensitive data they need to protect, and by the same token are more highly targeted by cyber criminals. In addition healthcare providers are also subject to more stringent and higher levels of regulations, making compliance a key requirement in the security framework.
