One third of UK universities have admitted to being the victim of a ransomware attack. This represents more than 25% of the universities and colleges in the country.
Incidents occurred in the last decade, most from 2015 to 2017. Several educational institutions suffered at least two attacks file encryption over the last decade, one of which records more than 40 since 2013.
