A bank in Europe has been the target of a massive DDoS attack that sent its network a plethora of 809 million packets per second (PPS).
The attack could easily be a candidate for the biggest DDoS attack to date, despite not being a data-wide attack, with just 418Gbps.
The DDoS attack varies depending on the method used to drop the target. The intensity of the attacks is measured in bits per second (BPS), in packets per second (PPS) or in requests per second (RPS).
BPS attacks are aimed at depleting internet pipeline, PPS is targeting network devices or applications in the data / cloud center, and RPS attacks are targeting an edge server running a web application.
