EatStreet Hackers Chow Down on Diner Data

Gnosticplayers have reportedly taken credit for the breach, which they say consists of 6 million records.

Hackers are enjoying a fine repast of customer data from online food ordering service EatStreet, which has disclosed a major data breach affecting customers, delivery partners and restaurants.

EatStreet says that it partners with more than 15,000 restaurants in 250 U.S. cities, serving up deliveries and processing takeout orders for a large number of consumers. On Google Play alone, the app has been downloaded more than 100,000 times.

The company didn’t quantify how many restaurants, delivery partners or diners were affected, however, only that it was a “limited number.”

In a letter to customers, EatStreet said that “an unauthorized third party gained access to our database [and] was able to acquire information that was in our database on May 3, 2019.” It added that it detected the intrusion and rectified it quickly.
